The Robin
A beautiful bird
Often visiting my garden for it's tea
Singing sad symphonies
Suppressed and strained
Almost bitter sweet
A visual treat
His puffy fluffy bright red breast
The fluidity of his singing -he knows best
Reflective phrases and solemn tunes
A symbol of solitude
The song bird of sadness
Singing his lonely melody
The old world -fly catcher - he's also known
Agile and free
A storm cloud bird - sacred to Thor
The God of Thunder -you can't ignore
An alternative legend of old
Foretold the Robins breast was scorched
Vibrant red for all to see
Fetching water for the souls in purgatory
They also tell of the Robins plight to sing to Jesus to ease his pain
Blood falling
Landing on his chest
Signifying
The Robin's Red Breast again!
A lasting legacy
For some
Good omens to see
Evoking memories of those no longer here
Feeling deep within your heart -that they are still near
The love still strong
Safely stored away
It never leaves or fades
For me I love to see them free
Darting back and forth their nest
Looking after their fledgling family
The wonderful Robin so cheeky and real
A pleasure to view
His music to feel
The song bird of sadness
Vibrant and true
Pictured on cards for his winning ways
Depicting the change of seasons too
Another gift from nature
Treasured by me and you xx
