Roadside ??? Stories

I was travelling in an auto rickshaw with my nephew to the Marina Beach last weekend

While travelling, I saw many vehicles on the way. A lot of two wheelers ????? especially and a few cars ?????? too

There's one interesting thing that I noticed while I saw these vehicles

A lot of the folks inside the cars hadn't worn seat belts

A few of the folks riding the two wheeler didn't wear a helmet ????

A lot of folks riding pillion on the two wheeler didn't wear a helmet ????

Mind you, some of these people interestingly had helmets (hanging around in hand etc) but didn't wear em

Same goes for car passengers who had working seat belts but didn't wear em

Anyways, I think these are probably the kind of people who wear helmet, seat belt only when they see the police, like traffic police, at signal, ???? junctions etc. Police who check for helmets and correctness of vehicle documents, and also ensure people are not talking on the phone while driving or else the police catches em. These folks are afraid of paying fine but not ?? afraid of incurring injury or even losing their life in the event of an accident

Coming back to riding unsafe, I want to specifically focus on the two wheelers now, which seem less safer than cars, in my view

So, many of the pillion riders didn't wear a helmet. Imagine the safety of all these people. How safe do you think this is?

Not just this. There's more. I saw four people riding on a motorcycle ???. A kid in the front, dad (I believe) riding the motorcycle, and then another kid, behind the dad, and then the mom (I believe) sitting at the other end of the motorcycle. They are all sitting very close and tightly packed in the motorcycle. Just the dad was wearing a helmet. And some of these pillion riders are literally on the edge of their seats, a small miss and they will fall off the vehicle leading to some tragedy, which can be fatal ?? ?? too

How safe is all that?

And then I see more than 4 people going in two wheelers that can accommodate only 2-3 people generally. How safe is that?

Let me tell more stuff I noticed and what I heard from my Dad

I see people riding pillion and looking at their phones while riding. Once my Dad mentioned a story where a person was riding pillion and they tilted towards the back while checking their phone and fell off. Why did they tilt their back? My Dad tells me that it was their habit to tilt their back and lie on the bed while checking their phone and this habit has happened on the two wheeler too, forgetting the environment

I see small kids riding pillion and almost sleeping while holding the person riding the two wheeler. Imagine if the kid loses balance (given they are sleepy) and falls off while dozing off. And this kid's not wearing helmet too. Regardless, how safe is that? Even with a helmet ????

Please ?? ride mindfully. Please ?? take care of your loved ones. Please ?? don't risk your life. Always know what you are putting at risk while driving with your loved ones, especially in a traditionally unsafe manner like not wearing seat belt, not wearing helmet. Know what matters. Know your priorities. Your life and the lives of your loved ones are priceless compared to anything else
