Road trip thru Southern Africa

Since the end of December 2022, my wife Monika and I are on a ‘Road trip thru Southern Africa’ that will last for another month. It rounds off a 2-years+ stint as first cluster coordinator with GIZ Malawi.

Long before my assignment in Malawi ended in December 2022, I craved meaningful changes and space to reflect on past experiences with a hopefully transformational outlook.

What better way to do so than driving as a unique pathway of human freedom (Matthew B Crawford). Driving thru countries in Southern Africa that have been home to us for a total of 22 years and which keep providing us with new meaningful insights and perspectives, and with more clarity about dos and don’ts.

As individuals, we’re always in a state of dynamic interaction with the system (institution) we’re engaged with, and with ever changing situations. My personal approach to this truism is keeping straight guided by my inner compass! An inner compass that is tantamount to always taking my best shot!

This road trip thus symbolizes that the essence of life is continuous moving, changing, and flowing. And that freedom along the whole road trip of life comes from inner contentment, which comes from self-reliance and personal responsibility, which comes from reasoning out. So, let’s keep driving on a straight road in life!
