The Better Buildings Initiative by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is at the forefront of advancing energy efficiency. Through strategic partnerships, DOE is enhancing the energy performance of buildings and industrial operations across the country! Recently, DOE recognized Better Climate Challenge and Better Plants Challenge partner General Motors for their innovative progress in energy efficiency. By transitioning to a combined heat and power system at their Fort Wayne Assembly Plant, GM cut natural gas use and carbon emissions by 30%. Jobs in clean energy grew twice as fast as those in traditional energy in 2023! To achieve nationwide decarbonization goals, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) expects the solar industry will need to grow from more than 330,000 employees now to between 500,000 and 1.5 million workers by 2035. RV Resilience, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s first hybrid-electric research vessel, was dedicated today at our Sequim, WA campus. “RV Resilience represents DOE’s and PNNL’s commitment to demonstrating how innovative approaches, like the design and construction of this unique hybrid vessel, can advance the nation’s quest for clean energy,” said Laboratory Director Steven Ashby.
