On the Road with Lonely Planet: November Edition
Welcome to the November edition of On the Road with Lonely Planet, our monthly email series highlighting the places our people have recently traveled, whether for work or pleasure or both.
Our one goal: to inspire you to get out there and take the trip you’ve been wanting to. Hopefully our adventures will slide you over to booking mode. We've also recently released 2024 Best in Travel, for more travel inspiration.
Let's spin the globe and find out where the Lonely Planet team traveled this month.
Charming, cozy Cotswolds
My fall getaway mood? A long weekend in England's Cotswolds. The imagery? The countryside, villages out of a fairy tale, a tour of 15th century Sudeley Castle & Gardens, hikes with insane panoramic views. I totally earned that third pint. And the Sunday roast at The Wild Rabbit.

The Nevada desert is weird, yo
Here’s what I saw in the US' Nevada desert: hundreds of miles of desolate two-lane highways. Middle-of-nowhere tchotchke shops selling "I Want to Believe" t-shirts. Stickers that read, "I stormed Area 51.” Roadside petroglyphs and Pony Express markers. And some of the most breathtaking scenery I have ever encountered.

First time in Perth
Although I’ve lived in Australia for nearly a decade, this was my first visit to Western Australia’s capital city. My trip was timed to coincide with Perth’s inaugural EverNow Festival, which celebrates the arrival of Kambarang – one of the six seasons in Indigenous Noongar culture.

All hail Alsace!
In the rolling hills of France you will find tons of ferme-auberge or farm-stays. These are working farms producing incredible meats, cheeses, veggies, homemade wine and homemade beer (an influence from their German neighbors). I always choose to eat at these places for lunch and dinner.
