I've been in correspondence with the mayor of Banana and I spoke to him earlier this week. He has agreed to paint the banana-shaped traffic island in the middle of town road safety yellow so that it is visible on Google Earth. Readers (dare I say plural?) of this odyssey will recall the back story. Anyway, I sent the 'artist's rendition' (above) and he's agreed. I'll post details when it's done.

The lesson? Attention to detail, polite persuasion and a bit of gentle humour matter, I guess. I suppose I've built a career on it.
