RN’S – My travel contract pick of the week: TUCSON, ARIZONA
Why should you put this city on your bucket list? Here are few reasons… Tucson is the authentic natural southwest. Located in the Sonoran Desert about 108 miles southeast of Phoenix, it is the only place the stately saguaro cactus grows. Surrounded by five beautiful mountain ranges and showered with sunshine over 350 days a year, you won’t have to take your happy pills because you will genuinely BE HAPPY.
For the adventurer, rock climbing and biking to say the least. Outside magazine selected Tucson as Best Bike Town, so you know it’s serious. Are you a Foodie? Locally sourced, organic cuisine with local beer and wine options abound – especially downtown. Speaking of downtown, it recently got a 100M facelift thanks to the Rio Nuevo project. Modern streetcars & more fabulous bars, restaurants and art galleries than you can shake a stick at.
Still not convinced? Oprah likes it. She frequents Tucson’s Miraval Resort on the regular, and other big names have made Tucson their home as well. Like Music? That hip downtown scene has plenty of great live music venues for local talent. If it’s big music names you're looking for, just head south to the AVA Ampitheater at the Casino del Sol Resort - you will find them there. Oh and the desert is breathtakingly beautiful with cool nights and clear skies – and did I mention the ridiculously gorgeous sunsets? Definitely don’t take my word for it, go see it for yourself!
