RM Tech Talk issue 4
Welcome to the fourth edition of RM Tech Talk. We’re at the end of the academic year, so this edition is shorter than usual but contains features to help you to get ahead over the summer.
Working to crack a tricky assessment problem in one MAT
Creative and performance subjects don’t lend themselves to the same type of assessment as those with ‘right’ and ‘wrong' answers. E-ACT, a 29 school multi-academy trust, has been working with RM and Victoria Merrick, Merrick-Ed Limited on a pilot project to apply Adaptive Comparative Judgement to KS3 Art work.
The case study explains the methodology applied, the impacts on the time taken to arrive at a judgment and the levels of reliability achieved. To find out more about RM Compare, subscribe to the newsletter.

PSTN telephone line migration date changed
In previous editions of RM Tech Talk, we’ve covered the wider context of the plan to phase out old-style copper telephone lines and the systems that use them. Earlier this year, BT announced a change to the switch-off schedule.
However, the delay doesn’t mean that you can forget about replacing your PSTN-based telephone and other systems that rely on the technology. Our latest blog post examines the implications of the delay and actions you can take.
Cyber security webinar series
This term we’ve hosted a series of three webinars on cyber security topics in association with Trend Micro. The final one for this academic year took place earlier this month. Titled “How is cyber crime evolving? Staying ahead of the game.” the webinar examined the changing landscape of the cyber threats targeting schools.
If you missed any of the series you can catch up on demand on our events page.
And finally . . .
That’s all for this month. We’ll be back with more in time for the new academic year. Until then, keep up with the latest on technology for schools by following us on LinkedIn. That’s where you can also access the archive of previous issues of RM Tech Talk.
