Information Hierarchy: The interface content follows the principle of clear prioritization. The primary functional module occupies the central view, while other functional modules (e.g., music playback on the right) use a floating card design to allow quick viewing without overlapping with the main interface.

Summary: Rivian's central control layout adopts a single-screen design, focusing on the display and operation of a single functional page. Compared to split-screen designs like Xiaomi and Li Auto, the single-screen design is more streamlined. The use of top and bottom bars for quick-access buttons, such as climate control and door locking, enhances simplicity and usability. The 4+n (four homepage quick-access buttons plus additional module menus) setup keeps the interface intuitive. The floating music information window ensures entertainment needs are met without distracting from the primary functional interface. Overall, Rivian’s central control design exemplifies simplicity and clarity, with a well-structured hierarchy.

The left button displays the driver’s current temperature and opens the left-side climate control page (Figure 1), which includes airflow direction, fan speed, and temperature controls for the driver’s seat. The right button does the same for the passenger’s side (Figure 2). These buttons allow independent control of temperature, airflow, and fan speed for their respective areas, meeting the personalized needs of both the driver and passenger.

The driving control module's homepage consists of two main sections: the right side, which features an automotive graphic, and the left side, which displays a functional menu. The left side presents a list of selectable driving modes, including All-Purpose, Sport, Snow, All-Terrain, and Soft Sand. Additionally, the menu includes options for adjusting height, ride feel (soft or firm), stability, and regen high.
On the secondary page of the driving control module, the left-side menu remains unchanged, continuing to provide driving mode selections as well as adjustments for suspension height, ride comfort, regenerative braking, and stability control. This design not only enhanced the fun and festive atmosphere during use but also demonstrated Rivian's meticulous attention to detail and commitment to user experience through OTA updates.
This approach of integrating holiday culture into OTA updates offers users a new way to interact with the brand, significantly enhancing brand recognition and user satisfaction. Such holiday-themed OTA design updates are worth considering for other automakers, as they not only enrich a product’s cultural relevance but also provide users with a more engaging and emotionally resonant experience.
