On rituals vs engagement, a burnout survey you need to take & Tydy’s new EX design studio
Hello there!?
95% of the time, I measure time “quantitatively”.
That’s what the productivity obsessed - get more done in less time - culture has taught me, and maybe you too.
But constantly tracking time and trying to control it can get extremely overwhelming. Like it did for me last week.
That’s when I discovered?Kairos,?a Greek term for qualitative time.?
A term that validated my sudden need to grab some fresh air in between work. The sense of time when I’m in nature, having a deep conversation with a loved one, or writing interesting, heartfelt content.?
Some call this the 'flow' or even mindfulness.
But no matter what name you choose to call this concept,?Kairos?has helped me refuel my heart, soul, and spirit.
Is?Kairos?an experience you resonate with too? (Side note: If you're big on sharing your experiences, I'd love to hear your story.?Here's?where you can find me!)
With that said, let’s see what’s up in the world of work and beyond.
Engagement activities can many times feel like forced fun. But rituals?
Rituals build communities. And in the hybrid era, if there’s one thing that has a critically low reading on most companies’ barometers, that’s the sense of “we”, the feeling of togetherness.
In this?McKinsey Talks Talent?podcast, Bryan Hancock, Bill Schaninger, and Lucia Rahilly talk about creating new rituals for the changing world of work with some really excellent examples!
They want to be seen. They want the organization to realize how hard they have been working.?
And more than anything else, they want you to help take some of that burden off their shoulders.
Middle managers are struggling. And Denise Hamilton suggests a?four-step framework?that you can use to help them out before it is too late.
Must try:
Are you at risk of burning out? You should do the?Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI)?survey to see if you're showing the signs.
You already know what a personalized experience can do for your employees and your company.
But if you’re in the process of getting leadership buy-in, then there are?five benefits to personalizing the employee experience?which need to be in your presentation.
And if you want to see this demonstrated,?get in touch?with us and we'll show you first-hand.
Here's interesting data from Gartner to reflect on for anyone who has wondered about building human-centric workplaces.?

A whopping 87% employees believe they've never worked harder. But only 12% of leaders believe their employees are being productive.?

In a workplace that will be multi-generational for a good time to come, delivering great experiences to every individual regardless of their generation and enabling inter-generational collaboration to build high-performing teams is an absolute priority for People Operations.?
What does this look like? And how can you navigate multi-generational dynamics??
Rachele Focardi, author of ‘Reframing Generational Stereotypes’ and an expert on the multi-generational workforce has some refreshing?answers.
Hiring for diversity is only the beginning. The real work starts after that.
For new employees from underrepresented groups to thrive, they need trusted allies within the organization. People Ops being the first of them.
Allyship is intentional and a learned practice. If you're looking to be a better ally to your diverse employees, LinkedIn's?training on allyship?is a great resource.
