Ceremony and ritual are the foundations for being present and having a spiritual witness to our lived experience...the suffering and the joy. ?????

It is the ultimate form of profound connection with each other. Something that has been lost for too long among our culture, but still lives within our bones longing to be cultivated.?

As we are faced with an epidemic of isolation, especially as entrepreneurs, ceremony and ritual can be the very things that can keep us connected…keep us human…keep us sane.

Take 5 minutes on Sunday evening or Monday morning to breathe, light a candle, and make an intention for the week ahead. Are you going to set a money goal or do you want to have ease in your dealings with clients?

Be it changing up your marketing strategy to more fully align with what you enjoy doing or mapping out your strategic plan, taking the time to center yourself, disconnect from technology and tune in with how you truly desire to grow your business will reveal an easier path to success. It’s so easy to be so connected to our phone and computer, but disconnected to our family, friends and ourselves. We can find ourselves on autopilot. When is the last time you put your feet in the grass? Cook a meal from scratch with some music on? Personally, I regularly disconnect by turning off my phone by dinnertime each day so I can be present with my daughter and don’t turn it on again until after I drop her off at school.

I am forever grateful for the community we have and shared values of raising our children to embody ceremony as an integral part of their lives.

We have hunted for peyote in the desert together over the last two years. We’ve climbed mountains on horseback to dance and sing with Mother Earth herself. Over 20 of us from different cultures and generations, from 2 years old to 81 years old.

Our community honors mothers bringing in new life into this world through blessingway ceremonies and recognizes girls coming of age. This is something that not many women get to experience anymore, but is essential to feeling seen on their journey.

And the other night we grieved together and honored the spirit of the child who left us before term and bore witness as a community for the parents, especially the mother who experienced both birth and death simultaneously within her body and is going through postpartum without an infant in her arms.

We laughed and we cried together. People shared their gifts of music and song. We sipped sacred cacao to open our hearts to ourselves and each other. We witnessed a young boy intuitively place petals in front of the mother and create a path leading to himself. My daughter and her friends created drawings combined with flowers and leaves to place upon the central altar and joined us in the final ritual witnessing our deep connection with each other. Tears of grief and joy flowed down our faces.?
