#1 State of Subscription Apps 2024
A little older but also a big topic of discussion in the app world last week. Why? The main reason is that the majority of apps generate virtually no revenue (less than 50 US dollars per month) and a few apps generate extremely high revenue.
#2 Apple's plan aims to shield small developers
Apple has announced new information on how the Core Technology Fee complies with the Digital Markets Act. In particular, the company acknowledged fears that the CTF could ultimately bankrupt small developers if a free app goes viral with 10 million downloads.

#7 OpenAI presents AI model for voice cloning
An approx. 15-second recording of a voice should be enough to clone it: "Voice Engine uses text input and a mere 15-second audio sample to generate natural-sounding speech that closely resembles the original speaker". OpenAI does not want to publish the software for the time being due to concerns about vote manipulation.

Amazon invests 2.75 billion US dollars in Anthropic. Anthropic PBC is a US artificial intelligence company founded in 2021 by former members of OpenAI.

British AI pioneer says the billions of dollars being poured into start-ups is obscuring scientific progress in the field.
