The Rite of Spring Concert and Dance
A magical event was set to unfold; a night where music and dance from different corners of the world would come together in perfect harmony.?
On June 24-25, 2024, in the Small Hall of the Thailand Cultural Centre, Japanese pianist Tamayo Ikeda and French pianist Gwendal Giguelay joined forces with the Thai dance troupe, Pichet Klunchun Dance Company. This wasn't just any performance; it was a celebration of culture and art, bridging continents and traditions.?
The evening began with the enchanting whispers of a Thai Shadow Puppet and Khon performance, captivating the audience with mystical storytelling. As the shadows danced on the screen, the air was soon filled with the exquisite melodies of Japanese and French piano pieces, played on the exceptional Yamaha Grand Piano C7X, provided by Siam Music Yamaha.?
The climax of the evening was even more extraordinary. Under the masterful direction of Pichet Klunchun, dancers from the Pichet Klunchun Dance Company took to the stage, weaving their graceful movements into a breathtaking choreography set to the powerful rhythms of "The Rite of Spring." This final act was not just a dance but a profound expression of unity and artistic collaboration.?
This project was co-organized by the Pichet Klunchun Dance Company, Ambassade de France en Tha?lande, the Japan Foundation Bangkok, the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, and the Department of Cultural Promotion at the Ministry of Culture, with support from Siam Music Yamaha, Mekhong, Koh-Kae, and Baanlaesuan (Media Partner).?
