October has seen an uptick in new roles across the risk management space from September, with a 22% increase in role volumes. However, in comparison to 2022 volumes, the number of vacancies released in October is down 30% showing that despite a recovery, the level of hiring is still significantly down from last year.

Confidence is coming back to the market, and although the global Geo-political and economic landscape remains challenging, than financial services industry is stabilising allowing business to plan more effectively for the future. The bulge bracket banks are still feeling the impacts of a poor 2022 so hiring remains low, but mid-tier banks seem to have weathered the storm more effectively.

As we head into November, the risk desk here at Pure are working on a variety of interesting senior positions and several clients across the banking and funds world are putting together hiring plans for 2024. December is famously a trickier time for recruitment but is a great time to network and I would be more than happy to talk through recruitment strategy with candidates and clients alike.
