Risk Factors for Common Spinal Disorders

A recent research review looked at the findings from 145 published studies concerning common spinal conditions. The review found that being overweight/obese, smoking, and having negative recovery expectations each raise the risk for non-specific low back pain while high job demands and monotonous work increase the risk for non-specific neck pain. The authors of the review note that addressing these risk factors could help prevent or reduce non-specific neck and back pain. PLOS ONE, June 2018
