Undergraduate Student of Informatics at Syiah Kuala University | Bangkit Academy 2024 Machine Learning Distinction Graduates | Data Science, Python
Hello everyone! My name is Tasya Nadila, but you can call me Tasya. I am a proud member of the ML-09 class at Bangkit Academy led by Google, Tokopedia, Gojek, & Traveloka program, where I am pursuing my passion for Machine learning. Before joining Bangkit, I had always been passionate about machine learning and the problems it could solve. Additionally, I have always dreamed of pursuing a career in the data field after graduating from university. This passion led me to join the Bangkit Academy program in my junior year (3rd year) in college. Joining the Bangkit Program is the right choice for me. Furthermore, there are numerous benefits to joining Bangkit Academy. Some of these include acquiring various training certifications related to the chosen learning path, knowledge of soft skills, English certification, and a chance to earn up to 20 SKS.
Since the moment I took the first step into this prestigious Bangkit program, I knew that this would be a journey that would be tough but worth trying. During my 14-week journey as an ML cohort, I gained a lot of soft skills and knowledge through the comprehensive curriculum at Bangkit Academy. Little did I know that the Bangkit program was going to equip me not only with the technical skills but also the soft skills that helped me build confidence and resilience, so nothing could stop me from improving my personal growth.
However, I still face challenges and difficulties during the program. Here are some of my problems during the Bangkit Program and how I overcame them. First and foremost, as an introverted person, I always struggle with my shyness. During my journey at Bangkit Academy, I struggled with my shyness. My low levels of self-confidence exacerbated my anxiety and made me reluctant to speak my mind. This was due to my overthinking, which felt that the idea I wanted to give was not good and irrelevant to the discussed topic. Due to my shyness in expressing opinions during classes, I realize that I have missed so many opportunities to learn, grow, and engage in discussions. As a result, I feel frustrated and a sense of being behind in my academic and self-development. In light of this, I have researched and found ways and solutions to overcome this challenge. To overcome this, I practice speaking in front of the mirror and watch public speaking training through the YouTube platform. Then, I will try my best to think there is no such thing as a stupid opinion. Whatever idea I want to express, I must remember that my thoughts and opinions are still valuable. Besides, we need to change our mindset into a growth mindset.
In Bangkit Academy, the ILT Soft skill sessions have greatly impacted my personal growth. The first ILT SS session is about the growth mindset. Although it requires a lot of time and effort to put the growth mindset into practice, my perseverance has helped me overcome shyness and anxiety when speaking in front of people. In general, overcoming shyness will make me closer to doing new things and facing challenges more confidently. Even though I am still not 100% successful in implementing this solution, I will be consistent and more confident in expressing myself in the future.
The second one is difficulty in time management. This challenge has been my Achilles heel since my sophomore year in college. One of the most challenging situations when studying is when I have a lot of assignments, projects, and exams due all at once. This situation tends to overwhelm and make it difficult to prioritize tasks effectively and ensure everything is completed on time. To overcome this situation, the first step I will take is to create a study plan. I allocate 40 to 60 minutes daily to create a study plan and organize my Google calendar. Implement the four quadrants of time management principles I get from ILT SS sessions. Another important aspect is to focus on a single task rather than multitasking. Additionally, it is recommended that negative habits be eliminated as a final tip.

The third one is the difficulty in mastering the complex algorithms and techniques in machine learning. However, by reviewing lessons from Coursera, Dicoding, the ILT machine learning class and asking my instructor about the hard topics of machine learning that I don't understand, I can overcome this problem. Moreover, the last difficulties during my Bangkit is burnout and procrastinating on tasks that need to be completed. During week 10 of my learning journey, I started to feel a lack of motivation to work on my Bangkit's tasks. Actually, I believed that this was a common condition for every student, and I reassured myself that it was okay to have this feeling sometimes. However, if I do not overcome this feeling immediately, it will turn out to be a boomerang for me. My own solution for this one is to break down the tasks into more manageable portions so I can do that task efficiently and handle my time more effectively.
Furthermore, ensuring I get enough rest and addressing the burnout is crucial. Sometimes, it's necessary to allocate time for myself to achieve a work-life balance. This can certainly alleviate feelings of burnout. In addition, by doing all of the solutions above, I can avoid feelings of burnout, manage my time effectively, and remain motivated through the Bangkit Academy program by setting a clear goal so I can prevent feelings of lack of motivation. Additionally, this will increase my productivity level and help me to organize all of my activities more systematically.
Additionally, big thanks to my mentor Ngakan Widiasprana for his dedication and guidance so far during the weekly consultations at Bangkit Academy 2024??
