Rising To Greatness

Success isn't built in one day, and neither is greatness. However, many people don't often walk down that road, and not everyone that chooses to walk down the road to greatness makes it all the way to the end. Every person is born into their own set of circumstances, and irrespective of the hand you were dealt at birth, or where you are placed now, the first step to achieving greatness lies in wanting to get there.

Staying Committed to Greatness

Building yourself up, especially in your career, is a long process that involves the steady accumulation of skills and experience that will help you to move up the career ladder. A common reason why people give up on their goals is that they believe they can't attain it. An idea or a concept is relatively easy to come by, and new sparks of innovative thought come into the minds of thousands of people every day. So what differentiates the people that succeed from the people that don't?

1.         Research: An idea is simply the foundation that you need to build upon before you take a product to market. The more information you gather about your field, about the skills you require to succeed in your field, the more likely you are to succeed. You should also carefully study the accomplishments and failures of those who have already left a footprint in your field. This will help you to build yourself up as an aware and capable individual.

2.         Build Self-Worth: Confidence is key when it comes to succeeding at anything in life. A healthy sense of self, alongside an understanding of what you want to achieve in life, will help you develop a plan towards manifesting your dreams. If you lack self-confidence, then build it up by setting yourself small accomplishable tasks. The more you finish these tasks, the better you will feel about yourself.

3.         Develop What You Know: It is easier to be great at something you are already good at, than something you have no knowledge of or don't have talent in. What this means is, if you know you are good at management, but bad at designing, it is easier for you to both gain success in and find and an easier time finding greatness in management. Building your personal story of greatness should ideally revolve around what makes you great already, and expanding upon that knowledge to build your career. You can always gain new skills while developing the skills you are good at. But when you are starting out or when you are in a slump, relying on what you are comfortable with can give you the edge you need.

4.         Put Yourself Out There: If people don't know you, then the chances of you reaching your goal towards greatness go down by a large margin. The reason behind this is that most success stories are built not only by one person but by a network of people. The more forward you are about your ideas and what you can contribute to work, and the more initiative you take towards accomplishing your goals, the more likely you are towards becoming focused on your path to success.

5.         Know that the World Today is Different: Women and men today both go to work, and people across the world have been breaking glass ceilings when it comes to important questions such as gender equality and equal pay. The internet and smartphones have also changed the market operates, and people today can work from anywhere, something that was unimaginable until quite recently. In this new global climate, you are freer to develop your path to greatness and compete with the best to find your success.

Every success story is different, and no two paths to greatness are the same. But you can always learn from the people who were there before you. Ultimately, 'greatness' is achieved at the end of a long learning process, but the reward at the end of the journey inspires people across the world to take on the journey. Your career and professional life is something you both have control over, and something that can add great value to your life. As long you intend to walk down the road to greatness and are willing to put in the effort towards manifesting your success, you will reach your goal.
