Rising from a fall, how you can do that too!

Dear reader,

Welcome to the second issue of the Cheers to your Growth newsletter where you get your spirits lifted and fired to keep working on you. And today, we are going to talk about something that is not commonly discussed which is the question; What happens when you fail? — How do you rise from the so-called ashes you currently find yourself in?

So, maybe you didn't reach all of your goals for the second quarter or there's something that you've been wanting to do (believe me I'm quite guilty of this) but fear has been holding you back, because it just seems way too big, would take too much time or might seem out of reach.

One thing Burna boy said in his song "Wild dreams" is "Don't let them tell you that you should humble yourself, humble your dreams" and here's the important part — "Remember everything you see today at some point started from a wild dream!".

The biggest companies on earth today, like Apple, Google even non-tech companies like Versace and Gymshark all started as dreams, but they are no longer dreams anymore, they are now realities. People who dreamt them up essentially dreamt it up to reality in more ways than one, such as partnering with people who share the same vision and building from there. None of the origin stories of anyone starting these organizations were linear, they all faced their fair share of tribulations and trials along the way. But guess what? It was so worth it. So, what's the point of all this story?

We are currently in the third quarter of the year running from July to September 30th. As we say goodbye to July, there are exactly 61 days till the end of this quarter of the year. So, the thing preventing people from attaining what they really want a lot of the time is self-sabotage and a lot of times "wanting to play it safe". So here are actionable tips that can help you fight self-sabotage and gradually cultivate self-belief.

Steps to rise from the ashes into the light, learning self-belief

  1. There is no "failure" only feedback. Any "failures" that you may encounter is there to teach you something, it's literally data, you learn from your experiences helping you grow into a smarter and more intelligent person.
  2. Be honest with yourself and apply yourself towards something if you're not doing that already. Work is an amazing way to express yourself creatively while functionally delivering value in your society.
  3. If you backslid with respect to something you really wanted to do, what you need is radical change, because denying yourself something that you really want (as long as what you want is not hurting anyone lol) is not an act of self-love. You're making the wrong sacrifice! Sacrificing what's been on your mind for much smaller things is costing you and would keep costing you till you start working to what it is you really want and keep at it, despite the bad days.
  4. Find an accountability partner ensure your partner is also working towards something too. So that you are both accountable to each other and it's also more fun as you can talk about the good, bad and ugly. Treat yourself for a job well-done occasionally and generally have fun as you grow.
  5. Pick up a book and make a habit of reading it as you work on your goals. I am really a fan of self-help books (I am currently reading "**The mountain is you** by Brianna Wiest" and I would heartily recommend). Reading has so many benefits for the mind so if you're new you can just set a timer and do about 25 minutes to 1 hour a day every single day. The results in your life would be exceptional I promise you.
  6. Do the hard things. Almost everyone wants to grow the easy route, but it is when we do the hard things that we really find deep fulfillment especially after accomplishing it at the end. Just give yourself to the process for fixed periods of time. Such as using the pomodoro technique and you'd see just how far you'd go. You can also have "Focus" periods where you perform "deep work" and really do your best in that allotted time. It's really up to you how you go about it.
  7. Lastly, track your progress. You need feedback from your day to day. Whether you journal what went on during the day, or you strike out the days of the calendar that you did a particular thing you want to be good at and consistent in is fine as long as you track it. You really need that data for yourself to optimize yourself efficiently.

CONCLUSION

I'm convinced that if you follow all these guidelines, you wouldn't even be recognizable in the next few weeks/months to come. You would have grown so much (and so fast too). Do yourself a favor and really apply these things you'd thank God you came across this article at the end of the quarter, year or any fixed period you've set to study your growth and learning. With all that said, Cheers to your growth. I'm rooting for you??.
