Rising above your Circumstances
I look back upon my childhood and can remember many instances where my mother encountered a friend or acquaintance during her day and made small talk. The usual pleasantries would be exchanged, but one thing that always stood out was that when she was asked how she was doing, she would respond with, "I am well, thank you; above the circumstances!"
She never explained why she often said that, but one day a light bulb went off and I saw it clearly: the phrase that is commonly used is, "...under the circumstances...", but by substituting that one word, one is transformed from a victim of circumstance into a victor of circumstance!
Isn't it strange how one word can change the meaning of a phrase; how one little word can have so much power? Let's commit to choosing our words wisely, so that they may build up, not break down; empower, not destroy; bring light, not darkness. Words do have power and they are able to empower us, as well as others to drown out negativity and bring forth positivity!
Have a Happy Choose-Day and make it an awesome day :-)
