Rising Above!

My wife and I just returned from a wedding in Northern California. We celebrated the marriage of the son from a good family friend. It was a wonderful event and a very joyous occasion.

We spent several days driving through the vast landscape of mountains, ocean, valleys, and forests that led to the small town in an area approximately 50 miles from the Oregon boarder. We are fortunate to live in a land that offers this type of beauty and freedoms. There were many highlights but none more beautiful than this mountain.

Driving south from Oregon, we made our way through the range of the Klamath Mountains. It wasn't until we rounded one particular stretch of mountain road that we came face to face with this beauty that rose above all others. This is Mt. Shasta and it rises over 14,150 feet above sea level. I was moved by the beauty of this sight that I stopped at least three times along various parts of the highway to take in the awesome majesty of this mountain.

I wanted to share this photo and experience as a reminder that we live in a land of such beauty and we should all take the time to explore and enjoy what is available and open for us to see and experience.
