Rishikesh -The land of yogis
The Ganga was my first view in Rishikesh and I realized YESSSS I finally made it to my FIRST EVER SOLO TRIP. All the anxiety of the unknown finally vanished.
My 2019 Bucket List just got a big TICK.
I felt peaceful with the sound of the water and the lights of the Laxman Jhula bridge. Nothing special but still was really spectacular for me. I went to the beach that night and remember just staring into stillness for no reason. Felt grateful that I made it safely and comfortably to Rishikesh.
Ganga is the selling point of the city for most yoga classes, cafes, shops. Everything faces the Ganga. Its an integral part of the city. Everyone in Rishikesh either is taking a dip, going for river rafting, meditating for performing aarti and chanting.
Every evening there is a Aarti at the Ganga which completely mesmerized me. All pandits doing pooja in a coordinated way. People lighting lamps and floating it in the river. The energy, the aura and the chanting completely charged me up. I felt so energized and satisfied.
The aarti made me realize that we already have everything within us, the desire, the fire to ignite our passion, the strength to stand for it and the humility we need to keep going ahead.
