R.I.S.E.U.P.
In a lot of the conversations I have I hear the same question when it comes to supporting someone else in their network.?
It's this:?
What value could I possibly provide to this person who is more successful, senior, connected, etc. than me??
And I get it.?
Sometimes when we meet someone who seems to have it all, we feel stumped about what we could help them with.?
But here's the thing.?
EVERYONE has something they could use support with no matter where they are in their life.?
Here are six of the most common ones which are easy to remember if you just think "R.I.S.E.U.P.?
Referrals- if you can connect someone to a person who wants to do business with them there is immense value in that.
Most people have a lot of trouble doing this effectively so if you're the person who nails it, you'll be remembered more than most.?
Introductions- Even if you can't connect someone to a client, connecting them to someone who can help them or support them can make a lasting impression. Especially if you're thoughtful about it.?
Strategy- There are things that your lived experience has taught you that others have simply not learned. If you can help someone else see the big picture and which direction to go in when they feel stuck, that's powerful.?
Events- If you can make someone aware of an event that could be helpful to them like a conference, dinner, or another gathering they'll remember it. Your choice to invite someone to something you host could also leave a lasting impression.?
Unknowns- There may be a technology you use that others don't know about yet or a book you've read that could be just the book someone else is looking for. Surfacing valuable things for people can add value like no other.?
Press- If you've ever been on a podcast, had someone feature you in an article, or as a speaker at a conference you know how impactful that can be. What if you shared those opportunities with others??
And there you have it.?If you're ever at a loss for how to offer value try any one of these six and let me know how it goes.?
Excelsior!

1 个月I have always found the "unknowns" to be the key. There are, of course, times that I can help someone out, and times when I actually can't find that "thing" withing RISEUP - but it is rare if you use this checklist, especially - love this, Michael Roderick - as always - you add SO much value to what you do. Would like to catch up in Feb-Mar - and discuss this and other items if you have the time.
