Rise Up 365 Expo July 5-8, 2023

Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. If you know in your heart that God is leading you to do something, do not sit around and wait for God to hand it to you. Don’t be afraid to work for what you are passionate about. You are always going to have someone not happy with decisions you make, and they will try and turn that into something negative. Here Is the thing, if you focus on what God has in store for you, things will always work out in your favor. I can say without a doubt, when God is in your corner, you are going to win the fight. God’s plans for us will always be a win, because He has our best interest in mind.??God has never let me down, not even once. The Rise Up 365 Expo has been one of the hardest things to plan and make happen. Even though it has been hard, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my career. So many people have put a lot of hard work into this event. I can’t help but think about the people who have expressed their doubts. This just added fuel to the fire. Pushing me to do this event and making it what I know it will be.

How many of us have complained about what Hollywood is forcing down our throats? My vision for this event is for it to be used as a call to stop complaining and do something about it. The Bible doesn’t say “Some things are possible with God.” It says in Matthew 19:26 that “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe we desperately need a change in the film industry. There are movies that will be released very soon that is doing exactly this. How is that going to happen??

To all the people who are wanting to make this a career: If you are going to do this, then commit fully.??Give God your best in all you do. Put in the work. I am going to tell you that it is not an easy road to travel, but when things start to fall in place that feeling is like no other. Take advantage of those who have been doing this for a long time. I am bringing in some talented industry professionals who can teach you things like, how to make the perfect pitch. There will be someone there to teach you how to edit your project and make it the best it can be. Whether you want to learn proper acting techniques or how to write an engaging script, there will be sessions for you to learn from some of the best.?

To all the veterans who have found success in this industry: Share your knowledge to help build a better industry. There are so many people who want to learn from you. Find someone to mentor and provide guidance, because the industry is a tricky career to navigate. Do not just hand them the answers on a silver platter. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that you can stand on your two feet and get the job done. I am truly grateful for the two guys who saw something in me and have been mentoring me throughout my career.?

To the church: I will be completely honest, I believe churches need to step up when it comes to Christian films. The best way that churches can get involved in the film industry, is to show up on opening weekends for Christian films. To be completely blunt, you can’t complain what is being put in front of your kids, if you are not willing to help the faith-based films that make it into theaters. God can use these films as a tool to spread His word.?

To everyone in the industry as a whole: Try and create something different. Your movies do not have to end with a game winning touchdown. It has been done and done and done and done. Every film does not have to end with a celebration. Let’s face it, real people have struggles they are dealing with. That is real life. Find something that the audience can connect with and create a story that shows Jesus is going to be there in the worst storms. Raise the bar and do better.
