Rise & Shine - A Roundtable meet up

This is a long overdue post.

Rise Mumbai recently hosted a roundtable discussion inviting many partners from the industry – Banks, Technology companies, Business Consulting teams, Ecosystem partners, Investors, Government representatives, core Tech startups (sorry! we missed to invite lot more partners for this meetup, we look forward to doing even better the next time). The topic was “Open Innovation in Indian ecosystem vs Global”. The discussion kick started with Ed Carrell's (Head of Commercial Transformations/ Partnerships, Barclays Global Innovation) key note on the set topic, which gave insights into the paradigm that open innovation assumes that a firm can and should use external / internal ideas that can match the market segments, as every firm looks to advance in their technology space. Initial insights from everyone were very reserved and cautious but then, only to break into a healthy heated discussion :). I call it healthy heated discussion because, this forum really brought out some key points that is worth pursuing to make a difference in how open innovation is handled amongst all industries.

• Purposive inflow/outflow of knowledge, problem statements, solutions amongst all corporate partners
• Scale startup businesses in the true sense, by enabling multiple pilot runs from multiple corporate partners
• Engage government teams to enable cross boarder business opportunities
• Lead by example – create inside out investment opportunities
• Create an environment of trust for the startups and the investors

Rise Mumbai is inching towards fulfilling this goal of being a platform that embraces the true meaning of open innovation which involves many partners in similar capacity to participate, influence, be part of building the best fintech community in India.
