The rise of micro learning
Research shows that human concentration span has significantly reduced whereby it is now within the range of 10 to 15 minutes. Furthermore, the human attention span is also reduced to 8 seconds.
This means that - the proliferation of short and bite sized content now overwhelms our learning mechanisms. We are bombarded with numerous information that our brain couldn't focus.
In the future, this will have huge impact on our learning tendencies and knowledge absorption as our brain are not trained that way.
The shorter it gets, the more detrimental it becomes.
But it is not entirely a zero sum game after all. We need to adapt with the technological trend, hence we can attain flexibility in our learning needs.
If you are a visual reader, this would still require getting data from your optical nerves but if you are an audiotory learner - your learning will be enhanced with bite sized audio content - normally referred to as 'micro-learning'. In fact, I have written this article to be within the parameters of human attention span of 8 seconds.
