The Rise of the Good Man: A New Trend in Modern Masculinity

The Rise of the Good Man: A New Trend in Modern Masculinity

It’s a trend. It’s a sign. It’s a magnificent new development. We are evolving. And I’m here for it!

For the last decade, we've witnessed an upheaval in how men define themselves. The world is changing, and with it, so are the ideas about what it means to be a "good man." We've reached an intriguing inflection point where Mr. American Average Dude is now Tiktoking an explicit and revolutionary new definition of manhood.

Yes, you heard that right. Men between the ages of 45 and 75 are recording videos on TikTok and then sharing them on Twitter - or, as the owner (and only the owner) likes to call it, "X." These men are using social media to declare what it means to be a modern man. The message is clear: being a good man includes supporting qualified women in leadership positions.

This brand-new phenomenon is shaking up the internet, and it's about time. In these short videos, usually under two minutes, men are stepping up and speaking out about the values they believe in. They're talking about honor, dignity, respect, valor, and service - qualities that the so-called "greatest generation" once embodied.

But there's a twist. These modern men are expanding the definition of those values to include a commitment to equality. They're saying that being a "real man" in today's world means recognizing the strengths and capabilities of women and supporting them in leadership roles. It's a bold statement, and it's resonating across social media platforms.

Now, let's rewind a bit. Did we lose our way somewhere along the line? With the advent of reality TV and the morally ambiguous anti-hero (looking at you, Tony Soprano, Walter White, and Nancy Botwin), the lines between good and bad got a little blurry. In these stories, people were "forced" by circumstances to break laws, flaunt convention, and live outside the boundaries of social norms. They paved the way for accepting the Good/Bad guy - a character who was good to some and capable of heinous acts towards others, depending on the plot twists.

Historically, the good guys wore white hats, and the bad guys wore black hats. But the Good/Bad Guys? They wore no hats, and their signature move was often violent. The stories were high drama, captivating, and irresistible, hooking audiences with cliffhangers that led to binge-watching sessions. Eyeballs were captured, and morality was muddled.

But now, there's a shift happening. Men are reclaiming the narrative and redefining what it means to be good. They're rejecting the Good/Bad Guy trope and returning to values that, while traditional, are being reimagined for the modern world. A big part of this redefinition is the acknowledgment that supporting women - especially in leadership - is not just a nice thing to do but a fundamental part of being a good man.

It's a refreshing change and one that's long overdue. As these men take to TikTok and Twitter (sorry, "X") to share their thoughts, they're sending a powerful message: the future of masculinity includes respect for women, equality, and a commitment to doing what's right.

So, to all the men out there who are embracing this new definition of manhood - keep it up! You're leading the way; the rest of us are here for it.
