Rise and Fall

I recently chanced upon this quote “What defines us is how well we rise after falling,” in the office of a business partner. Now it wasn’t the first time I had seen the famous quote by American author Zig Ziglar, but this time around it hit me in an extraordinary way.
It resonated so much at this particular time because when my business partner and I drew up our plans for the year, we did not foresee how COVID-19 was going to toss everything in the air.
We laughed over how we quickly had to re-strategize after taking one hit after another from the impact of the global pandemic. We’ve learned a lot from the process and we keep learning but we never stopped trying new things.
My biggest lesson from all these? Falling is part of the process.
No matter what you’re involved in, at one point you will fall but what truly defines you is how you rise from that fall.
How do you navigate or bounce back from the falls? Ask yourself these questions: What accounted for the stumble? What lessons have I learnt? How can I use these lessons to my advantage? What measures can I put in place to mitigate another fall?
There is opportunity in every stumble, if only you are willing to rise to the challenge and try again. Make a commitment, it doesn’t matter how many times you fall, you will rise every time and keep going!
Have a great week!
