The Rise & Fall of ChatGPT
Straight to the point - ChatGPT is on the rise but what's that 'fall' about? It’s the morale of many of us that's falling - at least that's how ChatGPT is positioned in public discourse. There is a common emotion towards ChatGPT and by extension towards Artificial Intelligence - FEAR.?
What will happen to my job / business if AI takes it over?
Let's break this down….
?From the brutal cold of ice-age to the deadly cold of Covid-19, Humanity survived & evolved - thanks to the survival instinct of humans! This survival instinct in humans is predominantly because of the human intelligence.?But is Intelligence is the crown jewel of humanity? It appears to be so, as that's what we have been taught right from our childhood. Well, it may not be totally true…
?
Beyond Intelligence lies Intuition… Intuition originates from Latin root word Intueri which means 'From within'. Intuition is something that is naturally born with & within you - unlike Intelligence which is acquired by you through learning from outside world. It is with that Intuition built in all of us as newborns, we identify our mothers from her smell (quite literally). This sense of smell is developed in all of us even before we are born & we know our mother with her smell, it's that ability which helps us identify our mother as soon as we are born. This might not be logically explicable but our intuition (and not our intelligence) towards identifying our?mother is the reason why we are alive today - by drinking that first gulp of our mother's milk!
?
By now, I am sure you might be thinking all of this as some spiritual or philosophical jargon… so let me quote precise examples from the history of Science on how Intuition led to solving certain complex problems in the history of science…

The list goes on….the above said great personalities did not find the breakthrough as a matter of luck. It is a deep sense of positive obsession in their respective fields which is built on the foundation of intelligence and eventually evolved as a powerful sense of Intuition.
?
We all have been taught right from school on how to nurture & capitalize our intelligence; we call it career. But unfortunately nurturing Intuition not given necessary focus. It's outright baseless to compete with AI. Rather understand the limitations of AI & Strengths of Humanity and find our way forward.
?
The nature & cosmos is a complex web of cause & effect. Humanity has a natural ability of Intuition with which we can understand this complex equation of cause & effect around us. Needless to say that Intelligence has its pie too! But the fundamental distinction is - Intelligence operates only in the realm of known but Intuition operates in the realm of unknown as well.
?
HAVING SAID THAT, Intuition doesn't mean free will. Free will is something that freewheels you around transient emotions. While Intuition is an innate ability of Humanity, devoid of your emotions or any other transient state of mind. Intuition is something that you feel in your bones but can't really explain why. What you feel in that state of your mind is devoid of logic & reason yet your thought process turns out to be true!

This sense of intuition works in all of us. Try this example… let's say I have no knowledge of music and I am listening & enjoying a person playing on a piano a piece of music that I never heard before. If the piano player suddenly hits an overtly out of tune chord, then I feel that abnormality that something is not right. I feel slipped from the harmonious experience I have been into. How is this possible? How do I feel this abnormality in music despite having no knowledge of music in me? Think about it….. :)

ChatGPT is hands down, a great piece of tech that could have greater purpose in making our lives better. Let me say this blunt & straight. People, unfortunately all of the world, have been losing jobs today not because of any intrusive AI. The job losses are happening because of economic slowdown which is a result of a man-made disaster - the war!
?
Till now we have been capitalizing our intelligence in building our lives. It's time that we understand, explore, nurture & capitalize our Intuitive abilities for our bright & collective future! Our children & young graduates, young artists & everyone newly stepping into this new world deserve a fertile ground that nurtures their intuitive abilities to not just survive but live a life worthy & with happiness & prosperity in the new world that's fast evolving into a deeply connected cognitive space!

1 年Good writeup Aravind , but who ever is thinking that ChatGPT is causing current jobloss must be naive and need to rethink their media sources. The main point is, rather than thinking in terms of a rise and fall of ChatGPT, it's important to think about how AI will continue to shape and impact the tech industry in a dynamic and evolving manner. It's not a matter of replacement, but rather a matter of collaboration and integration. Tech Jobs as well as content creation jobs will certainly be impacted. This will be similar to the impact on print media by internet and physical stores and online stores etc. But rather than fearing change, it's important to embrace it and look for new opportunities that will arise.
Well said Aravind. While there is a lot of hype around job losses with each new innovative solution, we need to rely on our internal capabilities and keep learning to leverage the innovation to our benefits.
