The rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is leading to the development of Artificial Superintelligence (ASI). This system will exceed human cognitive capabilities by a factor of 10,000 within the next decade. Predictions suggest that ASI could emerge by 2035, fundamentally altering human progress, scientific discovery, and societal structures. This paper examines the technological trends driving ASI development, the potential impacts on civilization, and the existential risks of machine intelligence surpassing human intellect.


Introduction: From AI to ASI


Artificial intelligence has transformed industries, automating complex tasks, from self-driving cars to AI-generated scientific research (Bostrom, 2014). However, current AI systems, including deep learning models like OpenAI’s GPT, remain at the Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) level—excelling in specific domains but lacking generalized reasoning abilities (Goertzel, 2020).
