RIP.... the only real way to go out

Listen, this is going to be a bit dark today.

Yesterday, around noon, a dirt bike stunt man I followed died trying to set a new world record jumping something like 400 feet.

He came up short, and unfortunately suffered fatal injuries.

I then made the terrible mistake of opening the comment section to the news...

Most looked something like this...

"RIP, but he shouldn't have been doing that"

"Sorry for the loss, but no one should ever jump that far"

"I feel for the family, that's why motorcycles should be banned"

Pfft.

Absolute garbage.

This man, at only 28, died young, that's a great loss for sure, and I send my condolences to the family.

But he died doing exactly that he wanted to be doing.

MOST people I know NEVER follow their dreams.

They NEVER do what they really want to do.

They NEVER take any risk at all.

And that's the greatest risk of all.

Listen, tomorrow is NOT guaranteed.

Just a couple years ago, I had coffee with a business partner, and 3 days later he went to bed a healthy man, and never woke up.

Life happens.

Your time, my time, it's not guaranteed. And it sure as heck isn't on our timeline.

If you've ever watched the Netflix series Lucifer, there's a line he uses, sort of his "power" where he ask people "what is it that you desire most in life?" and they have to answer him their truest, deepest desire.

And it's always funny because it's usually things that, quite honestly if they just took control of their lives, they COULD do. It's never oh I wish I could fly, or I wish I could be invisible, or walk through walls. It's things like I wish I could approach that girl and ask her out, or I wish I was a movie star, or I wish I was in a Broadway play, or I wish I was a CEO...

Instead, they settle for what's in front of them, and keep their dreams hidden away.

I know the feeling... the only place your dreams ever come to life is when you're asleep, but when you wake up, back to the reality you accept.

I'm here to tell you right now, life is way too short to settle.

Heck, the minute my girl said she's always wanted to dirt bike, we got to work on making it happen.

Within a couple days of serious looking, we found a bike that fits, got all the gear, and yesterday went for her first ever ride.

And it was absolute, pure, endless joy <3

Now I know, it's easy to say "well, I agree with what you're saying, but some things are just too risky"...

And that may be true for some.

But let's face it, MOST of your dreams aren't "life or death" and yet, you're still choosing to settle, to keep your dreams hidden, to do what doesn't inspire you.

As my COMPASS client Tony Frascone says "the secret to happiness is to cultivate an authentic connection between your heart and your reality".

If you followed your heart, if you went after your dreams, if you took a chance on YOU, you could never fail.

Or, you can take your dreams to the grave with you.

How many songs never get sung...

How many poems never get written...

How many businesses never get started...

How many relationships never begin...

How many books never get written...

How many speeches never get shared...

How many athletes never get found...

Because the dream was kept buried, kept in the dark, and forced to die?

Instead of given light, given the opportunity to grow, and give the breath it deserves?

You deserve to feel the immense, uncontrollable, insatiable happiness that comes from following your dreams.
