The statement came about after tickets to The Eurovision Song Contest were found listed for thousands of pounds on ViaGogo
MP Kevin Brennan brought the matter to the attention of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak last week, referencing a BBC Radio 4 programmeYou and Yours. The show acknowledged how the resale ticketing giant is selling tickets to the event for an astonishing £7,000 a pop.
Tickets for the grand final, which were originally being sold for £30 to £380, were purchased by “queue-jumping online touts”, said Brennan. In response, Sunak remarked that the government has “put in place measures to combat ticket touting." He went on to say: "I’m happy to look at the documentary that he mentioned to make sure that we’re doing everything we can."
“More generally it is a source of enormous pride for us to host Eurovision. I know it is something that everyone is looking forward to and we should ensure that there is as broad as possible access to seeing that, and we’ll do everything we can to make sure that that happens.”
