I can't believe I am writing this but 6 weeks ago Covid took the life of my mum at the age of 54. I am still numb, in shock & I am really struggling to come to terms with it all. I know LinkedIn is for professional posts and not personal posts but I felt like I had to share what I am currently going through.
This Saturday would have been my mums Birthday & I just wish she was still here for me to tell her how much I love her & how proud I was to call her my mum. My mum spent most of her life battling various serious health conditions including breast cancer twice, heart failure & many other things, but you would never have known, she always had a big smile on her face, she was the life and soul of any party, she was so kind and caring with the biggest heart and 100% she is the strongest person I will ever meet, we used to call Mum survivor Dee.
Everywhere I turn all I hear is the numbers & statistics of the lives lost but this is a reminder they are real people and someones loved ones. I just never thought the last time I saw my mum would be the last, I guess this is a reminder to love your loved ones, life can be cruel sometimes, we can't take tomorrow for granted.
The reason for this post is I know my mum wouldn't want to see me like this so I want to try and find some strength to honour her amazing life, I would like to say a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to the hero NHS workers, that risk their lives every day to protect us all, St Thomas hospital treated my mum with the utmost care until the end, for that, I will always be grateful.
Myself & the team at Signify are donating 10% of our fees to the NHS, we are also organising a virtual conference next week to raise more funds for the NHS, so far we have raised over 7k from the ticket donations, I am so so pleased we can do our bit to help. Feel free to help the NHS heroes with a small donation, even if you don't want to attend the conference the link is below, thank you- https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/virtual-scala-in-the-city-conference-tickets-104448622642
