RIP LinkedIn Top Voice Badges

RIP LinkedIn Top Voice Badges

Kewaan Drayton , Limitless Lounge Contributor

Last month, I shared my journey of striving to?earn the LinkedIn Top Voice badge. This is?a recognition that once symbolized thought leadership and influence on the platform. It felt like the ultimate achievement for anyone trying to build their personal brand and connect meaningfully with their audience. However, LinkedIn has recently discontinued the Top Voice badge, and this shift has changed the game.

For those of you still grinding?towards this goal, it’s time to pivot. While?the badge?offered credibility and visibility, LinkedIn’s decision reflects an evolving approach to content?and engagement. The truth is, this disappointing news has humbled me and taught me that the value of my?presence on LinkedIn has never been about a title.

What matters most?now more than ever is creating authentic, engaging content that truly resonates?with your network. LinkedIn is about sharing insights, building connections, and sparking?discussions that add real value to your industry. You don’t need a badge to be influential.?In fact, the discontinuation of the Top Voice program emphasizes that influence comes?from sustained efforts and the quality of your contributions. This is not the pursuit of specific?recognition.

So, if you’ve been focused on that badge, let this be a reminder not to lose sight of why you started?creating content in the first place. Your voice still matters, and your audience is still listening.?Keep?pushing, keep engaging, and most importantly, keep showing?up authentically!

The metrics may have changed, but the mission hasn’t.

I didn’t know the program existed until I was contacted by LinkedIn in 2023 and informed of my new status. The discontinuation of the program is also news to me. I will continue to post relevant content to inform. It was nice while it lasted! It also looks good on my resume. ??

Exactly. Focusing in the key points and impacts of our respective industries remain top of mind and contribution. Platforms change so much we'd experience tech seasickness trying to keep up. Great read.
