In this article, the researchers report on a ring-cavity diode #laser configuration, which has more features compared to the standing-wave external-cavity diode lasers. And the frequency can be easily adjusted by adjusting the voltage of a piezoelectric actuator installed in one of the mirror mounts. In addition, the output power from the ring-cavity laser is discussed and analyzed in the paper. Since the laser output is the zero-order output of a transmission grating; therefore, the direction of this output is frequency independent.
