As those of you who follow my Wabi Sabi Wednesday know, I often post pictures of my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Riley. What can I say? "I am my dog's mom."
Riley has a charming habit of finding and fixating on a single toy, that is until he has chewed it to shreds, and I need to sneak it away from him. Then he finds another one that becomes his favorite.
This pink puppy pleaser my mother sent him, was a big hit. He not only wanted me to endlessly play fetch with it, but he would sleep with it - like a favorite blanket.
These are the times where I wish inter-species communication was more advanced. I'd love to ask Riley, "What is it about this toy that has you so enthralled??
When it was finally shredded beyond use, I snuck it out while he was sleeping. He woke up, looked around, did the dog version of a shrug, went to his basket, picked out another toy, and that was that.
Taking a lesson from my dog, I would like to be less attached to things, people, outcomes, etc. So, the next time my metaphorical pink toy gets shredded, I plan on shrugging it off and finding another one.
Riley is adorable. Love being less attached...Thank you...
