?? Riled Up

Here are some recent snippets from my weekly review. Each week, I look back and record what I’ve been thinking, reading, and experiencing in the classroom and in life. Think, Learn, Share, Repeat.

• None of us are at our best when we’re in a riled-up emotional state. I’m still practicing this one. It’s a work in progress.
• Teachers are reading champions, but we often take time to read for ourselves. Reading for fun is good for your spirit, and it will make you a happier, more effective teacher.
• Teachers need hope, and grace is a key ingredient. Sometimes, the pressure of teaching seems too great. None of us is 100% all the time. It’s all right (in fact, necessary) to cut yourself a little slack.
• Nothing brings a family together like a few days of sharing a hotel room.
• If you want children to be successful readers, read out loud to them. And remember, we all can learn from a good children’s book.
• Teachers have to-do lists that continue to grow. It’s impossible to do everything that is required of us. Remember to give yourself permission to slow down and breathe. The work will still be there tomorrow.
