RIKEN OHC-800 Optical Sonic Calorimeter for Flare Monitoring
The RIKEN OHC-800 OptiSonic Calorimeter meets the requirements for the new US EPA OOOOB Rule.
The technology is solid-state and non-destructive. The analyzer can output Calorific Value (CV), Wobbe Index (WI), Specific Gravity (and soon, Gas Compressibility). It is a direct measurement that does not require a specific gravity analyzer live feed to convert from WI to CV.
Because it does not combust the sample, there is no chance of making corrosive H2SO4 in the analyzer. The analyzer uses only 10 ml/min of reference gas (0-grade air), This equates to one standard bottle every 400+ days.
The maximum sample flow rate is only 300 ml/min (can be adjusted must lower), so it is environmentally friendly. There is very little exhaust to atmosphere. Or an incinerator can be used to destroy the exhaust.
The analyzer contains only 4 modules, Optical Bench, Sonic Bench, Power Supply, and Main Controller. The first scheduled maintenance is after 10 years. And the analyzer can log the data up to 439 days. This means that the unit can sit unmanned for long periods of time.
