The Right Way To Support Israel

Vs. The Elon Musk Way ....

Canadian-Israeli businessman Sylvan Adams has donated $100 million to Ben-Gurion University of the Negev as part of an effort to rebuild the south following the devastating Hamas attacks on Oct. 7, university officials announced at a benefit gala in Toronto on Sunday.

“If we want the south to flourish after the October 7th pogrom, we must invest in the south, beginning in its capital of Beersheba,” Adams told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on Monday.

The latest donation dwarfs any of that giving. The $100 million donation is the largest ever to an Israeli university and on par with the largest ever made to any university. ( Jerusalem Post )

My Commentary

What I love about this massive contribution from our Canadian philanthropist Sylvan Adams is that he is providing his full support without forcing his opinions on us. As far as I know he's never supported any anti-government protests or spoken badly of our leaders.

Now about Elon Musk -

We really appreciate Elon Musk coming here and touring the devastation with our Prime Minister. We appreciate him wearing an army disk he received from one of the hostage families and promising not to remove it until the last hostage is returned. Very cool.

Elon Musk Visits Israel Amid Backlash Against His Endorsement of Antisemitic Post

But come on Elon Musk .... you're a billionaire and own such a key social platform. We know you're having a bad week with Tesla and that all your major brands are pulling their ads because you endorsed that antisemitic post - and for what? On what do you base these opinions you have? It's just your ego spurting out whatever it feels like to the whole world.

You could have very easily donated a significant sum like this to the next generation here who are literally putting their lives on the line so the world can be free of this evil.

So this is what I wanted to say -

1) Keep your opinions to yourself. This may be entertaining during normal times. But right now your opinions are not helping anything. Not to mention that you don't have the first clue about antisemitism so if I were you I wouldn't comment on it. Especially not at such a sensitive time and in a way Jews find insulting.

2) You have billions that's probably tied up in all kinds of things - but you could have very easily donated a significant sum like this to the next generation here, who are literally putting their lives on the line so the world can be free of this evil.

3) "Trite as it may sound, I wish for world peace" - your latest tweet has 39M views so far. In a perfect world someone in your position would actually know how to accelerate the path to peace and leverage your platform to help. Trust me - if done correctly no one would be upset. The problem is when a powerful individual thinks they have the right solution to fix things - which means one ego out of the 9 billion here wants to sway all the others to his/her opinion. That's not how this is going to play out - not even for billionaires.
