The right way to layer your skincare

This article of mine is useful for all those who use skin care products regularly. There are lot of people out there who may be using skin care products, but they do not know how to layer them. This implies that they may not be applying the products in the right order. If skin care products are not used in the right order; one may not get all the benefits associated with those products. If these products are applied in the right order, one would be able see susceptible difference in their skin quality in no time.

Insight:  Major reason to use your products in the right order is the different molecular size of the products. For example, oils have a larger molecular size as compared to creams or serums. Applying a product which have a bigger molecular size as a first application will create a barrier which won’t allow other products to penetrate in the skin.

So, let’s go ahead and study the order in which skin care product should be applied:

Step 1: Double cleanse:

Double cleansing basically means cleansing your face two times. Double cleansing is the most important routine to be followed once the makeup is removed. Please make sure that you are double cleansing your face because many times makeup doesn’t come off in one go. After you have cleansed your face, the next step will be exfoliating your skin.

Exfoliating your skin can be beneficial in a few ways:

· It unclogs your pores: Exfoliating your skin helps to remove all the dead skin that might be present on your skin. By removing the dead skin, you allow your skin to be free from blackheads and whiteheads as the dead skin won’t clog your pores after exfoliating.

· Exfoliating helps to penetrate your other skincare products deeper: Since the dead skin is being removed and your pores are now open, exfoliating helps to penetrate the skin care products deeper.

Tip: It is very important to remember; that whenever you are exfoliating make sure that you do not put a lot of pressure, as it can be the main reasons for skin breakouts. After exfoliating, make sure that you remove any remains of the dead skin and scrub it off from your face by using a wet towel.

Step 2: Toning:

Throughout the day, our skin is challenged by pollutants, bacteria, impurities and dead skin. Daily cleansing helps to remove dead skin and helps to achieve a healthy and glowing skin.

On the other hand, toning helps you to remove environmental toxins such as pollutants, smoke and other impurities in the environment. This helps your skin to be brighter and healthier. In the longer run, toning may help to reduce acne and reduce wrinkles. Further, toning your face also helps to balance the PH of the skin. The ideal PH of our skin is 7 (PH varies from 0-14). Having a balanced PH level means your skin is less prone to acne, infection and oiliness.

Step 3: Essence:

Honestly, I never knew about this step until few months back. However, including this step in your skin care routine can be a game changer. Concept of essence originated from Korea and it is a primer for your moisturizer.

Essence tends to be similar as serums. Hence one can also apply serum instead. However, the major difference between the two is their molecular weight. An essence tends to have a lower molecular weight as compared to the serums. Essence combine the various elements of a skincare routine in one step. They hydrate and re-balance the skin, whilst also using highly concentrated levels of active ingredients, enabling a deeper penetration into your skin layer. This extra hydration allows your skin to absorb all the goodness of your next product.

Step 4: Serum:

After applying your essence, you have made a primer for other skincare products that you will be applying after this. It is very important that you apply serum after essence to get the full benefits of your serum. Serums comes in various varieties and every serum, being sold in the market, plays a different role.

Personally, I like to use a serum which includes both vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. The choice of the serum can vary from person to person, according to their skin type and the problems they may be facing. After applying the serum, I personally like to massage my skin upwards. Please take note that it is important that you always massage your face in an upwards direction as it helps to stimulate your blood towards your face rather than away from it.

Step 5: Moisturizer:

Moisturizer should be an important part of your skin care routine. Moisturizer, as the name suggests, helps you to maintain moisture in your skin. Having an ample and a good amount of moisturizer leads to a healthy and supple skin. Even if you are in a hurry and don’t have time to do the entire skincare routine, just make sure that you apply your moisturizer regularly. As I personally have a dry skin, for me using moisturizer is a must.

I hope with the above article I have made few things clear for you about layering your skin care. My advice: you may choose to chose fewer products in your skin care routine but please use them in the right order. If you end up layering your skin rightly, I am very confident that your skin would be an envy of others and a matter of extreme pride for you. Meanwhile do check my website meekuba.com to read this article and also many more on various aspects of Beauty and Wellness.
