Right place - Right time...

Right place - Right time...

We would like to share a story and give thanks to the team of men who were able to make a rescue in the early hours of a morning, following working a complete night shift.

Treherbert is a Welsh village and community situated within the borough of RCT (Rhondda Cynon Taf) and like many towns and villages in Wales was once an industrial coal mining town. Treherbert train station has been the last stop on the Transport For Wales Rhondda line which runs from Cardiff.

The line to Treherbert is currently undergoing improvements.

On this occasion our team of men were working as part of Enable 's project for Transport for Wales and we would like to highlight the efforts and say a huge thank you to:

Mark Williams, Ryan Jarman, Joseph Ford, Ayman Aburus and Namik Esat.

I spoke to Ryan myself who states that when they returned to the van, in the train station car park at 4am they all thought they saw a child. Ryan states it was a cold morning with torrential rain and they then heard a child calling for their Mum.

Ryan reported picking the child up who had no shoes and socks on and trying to calm them down - he went to the van and put a jacket around them; keeping them warm whilst the other team members contacted the police and looked around to see if they could see anyone else. Ryan said they tried to see if anyone was around at the properties near to the car park - asking the child if any of them were where they lived but were not successful.

The team continued to support the small child until the police arrived and took over.

When asked how they felt - Ryan states that the entire team were pleased they were able to help and said ''We were in the right place at the right time!'' and thankfully this team were there and they saw this child.

This incident had left a mark on them however - as to be expected as it was so unexpected but it just goes to show that no two days are ever the same! Thankfully this small child was reunited with its family and was kept safe and well in the mean time by Involve RPI Ltd workers.

Thank you to all involved and to Ryan who spoke to me about this emotional story and allowed me to write this article.

This was a real positive action by the team of which they should be proud, they were also recognised by the Craidd Alliance consisting of Transport for Wales, Amey Infrastructure Wales, Siemens Mobility, Balfour Beatty plc and Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd. A fantastic effort whilst working on the Transformation of the CVL. #onefamily
