The right mindset

1. As a reminder.

A few years ago, I discovered through a failure the difference between being a Manager and being an entrepreneur.

It is possible to plan everything well and fail... what a cold shower!

It has therefore become obvious that the mindset can be decisive whatever you want to do. For a Manager, having an entrepreneurial mindset at an operational and strategic level can transform a career.

2. What is it?

The entrepreneurial mindset is the ability to set goals and achieve them, while remaining motivated. To maintain this state of mind, it is important to keep in mind: perseverance, success, determination and positivity.

Some people very often realize that we go to school to be employed by those who did not go there. In our environments, business leaders sometimes start in the informal sector with small businesses. The advantage they have is to discover the magic of starting small!

3. Start small

Starting small is the technique that allows you to establish the foundations. It is therefore not possible to set up innovative and ambitious projects if the foundations are not well established. It is the first steps, the first gestures, the first good practices that will allow us to move in the right direction. Small steps, then reflexes. The main advantage is to learn as the project is set up. Ultimately, each small step leads us towards bigger projects.

4. Set the course

Reminds that "there is no favorable wind for those who do not know where they are going!" The manager is characterized by his ability to set a course for his team, that is to say, to determine the goal to be achieved and the path to take to get there. More generally, leading means defining a vision, that is to say, an anticipation of the future of the company as well as a realistic strategy to achieve it. Beyond planning, the design of the project remains the central element.

5. The vision

So always have your project in mind. It is the link between your work and your emotions. You can delegate an activity of the plan to a collaborator but never the project.

It is also necessary to register each of your actions in a vision of the future. A vision whose essential value is not originality, but the ability to meet the interests of the shareholders, customers and employees of the company, in short the "stakeholders" or stakeholders. Their interests are convergent for one part, divergent for another. So know how to hold the bar to know which way to lean to keep your project balanced.

6. Let go

Finally, having an entrepreneurial mindset also means being able to let go! The majority of entrepreneur’s experience failures and bankruptcies. This does not prevent them from having success in their businesses.

How to let go at work?

Letting go is not easy, to achieve it you have to integrate a certain discipline.

-??????? Take a step back whatever the situation to calm down, position yourself as an observer of yourself, and learn to relax and put things into perspective.

-??????? Control negative thoughts because your thoughts represent you. It is important to understand them and calm your emotional burden.

-??????? Free yourself from the illusion of omnipotence and therefore free yourself from your ego.

-??????? The ego sometimes gives rise to an "exacerbated pride which leads to refusing to admit any weakness and, in doing so, to accept help from anyone". It is therefore essential to free yourself from it.

-??????? Accept losing control (from time to time) to let go at work. Accept not being able to control everything. The manager cannot be responsible for everything and spend his time checking everything. Focus on your priorities.

-??????? Accept your imperfections, it is therefore necessary to review your ambitions by focusing on "objectives that make sense in our life and that are in line with our values", and not driven by a quest for perfection.

-??????? Set achievable goals, do not ask for the impossible!

-??????? Make your limits respected to let go at work.

-??????? Learn to say no and to impose an impermeable boundary between you and your interlocutor is essential to your well-being, and this requires a certain amount of self-confidence.

-??????? . The past belongs to the past. It is necessary to stop ruminating and especially not to feel guilty in order to move forward but to learn from your mistakes.

-??????? Pay attention to your intuition because it connects us to our internal states or our emotions. Not everything is logical and when faced with the unknown, intuition, like instinct in animals, allows us to guide us.

-??????? Disconnect from your professional life by reconnecting with your social environment. Take time for yourself and your loved ones. The best solutions very often come in these moments of relaxation.

7. Ultimately

A professional career is no longer a long, quiet river. It is important to consider it as a path with several possibilities. The mindset that we develop can in this case be a factor of success or personal satisfaction. The manager can transform himself into an entrepreneur and vice versa in order to build a personal and professional balance. The objective of course remains the realization of the personal project. Let us remember in the end that there is no success possible for those who have not set the goal of their action.
