The right job isn’t just offered—it’s chosen.

Alright, you got the job offer. Feels good, right?
But before you hit "accept" and start celebrating, let’s pump the brakes for a second or two.
This ain’t just about getting the job—it’s about getting the right job for you. The one that will take you where you want to go. So, how do you know?
You ask the tough questions. Chew on these and give yourself some food for thought before you say "yes."
Do I know the real deal?
Look, I get it. You’re excited. But don’t let that excitement blind you. What red flags did you breeze past during the interview? Did they dodge any questions?
Trust your instincts and dig a little deeper. The truth is, everything looks good on paper—until it doesn’t.
Is the culture eating strategy for breakfast?
Forget the buzzwords they threw around in the interview. What’s the actual energy like at this place? How do people treat each other? Is there work-life balance or are they all burning out?
This isn’t just about the work; it’s about how that work is gonna feel day in and day out. Make sure it fits your lifestyle.
Is this a launch pad or dead end?
You’ve have to ask yourself: Will I grow here? Or is this just a pit stop? Sure, it might pay the bills, but does it help you level up?
Look for opportunities that align with your long-term goals. This isn’t just about getting a job; it’s about building a future.

Who’s my boss when no one's looking?
Let me tell you, your boss can either lift you up or drag you down. What’s their style? Are they a micromanager, or do they give you the space to grow?
Get a feel for what they’re like, because this relationship is going to make or break your experience.
Do I want to roll with these people?
Your coworkers are part of your journey, too. Are these people you can learn from, grow with, and enjoy being around? Or is it a cutthroat vibe where everyone’s out for themselves?
You spend a lot of time with your team—make sure it’s a crew you can row with.
What can I really negotiate?
Money is cool, but don’t stop there.
Ask for what’ll actually impact your day-to-day life—like flexible hours, remote work options, or a budget for personal development. Get the things that make your work-life balance feel right.
Balance the tension of being the answer they need while not leaving anything on the table.
Am I playing chess or checkers?
Look, even if this job feels perfect, always have an exit strategy. What’s your next move if things don’t work out? Having that backup plan in place gives you leverage.
It’s not about expecting the worst, it’s about staying in control of your own career and controlling what you can.
I’m working on something - TBD (no, not Tom Brady related.) As always, I like playing jazz piano for a fee, and I LOVE dogs for free ?? ??.
4 周"Who’s my boss when no one's looking?" So important. I've had wonderful bosses and have kept in touch. I'd run through a brick wall for them if asked. Working for a two faced/cowardly boss is like running into a brick wall....every day.
