IOT Insights Interview: Carsten Ahrens, CEO, G+D Mobile Security

As the IoT market matures, we are likely to see an increasing rate of acquisitions and?mergers. Several years ago the acquiring ‘gold rush’ was in analytics and data management, more recently it has been?in AI and on doubt, in the not too distant future there will be renewed focus on aggregators/channels for home automation/building management and low power wide area connectivity.?

Often, I wonder how these deals come about and the extent to which the interests of the acquirer and the acquired are aligned.

Just before the summer holidays, I got a chance to speak with both parties involved in G+D’s acquisition of Pod Group.

Earlier today, I published my interview with Carsten Ahrens, CEO of G+D Mobile Security and next week I’ll publish my interview with Sam Colley, CEO of Pod Group.

From G+D’s perspective, the Pod Group acquisition enables them to:

• Add value to existing business lines, in particular, embedded SIM and embedded OS, and
• Help existing partners and new customers address the long tail of opportunities in IoT more efficiently and securely.
