Riding The Waves Of Disruption
In taking a read of Bradley Dawson’s The Disruptive Warrior: ?The Hero’s Journey To Corporate Actualization I found myself enthralled, amazed, and delighted in what provides a real world cruise into the art of the possible. He brings a no-nonsense approach to truly understanding the dynamic forces that are shaping the evolving landscape of consulting, business strategy, and innovation processes in the digital age.
Transformational management consulting work isn't easy; nor is it cheap. The author blows wide open the mysteries and cuts through the clutter in a way that combines a global business mindset and financial acumen, with an academic rigor that leaves the reader flying through the pages given a clear and conversational tone. Yet in its simplicity it taps into the very nature of forces at play in terms of business success, story-telling and how best to set sail in order to navigate the tumultuous tides and currents of change management.
His ability to harness the varied nuances of disruption taking place today across sectors and industries is palatable. If you believe it is the journey, not the destination and wish to achieve business success, I highly recommend you stop what you are doing now and read this book.
The structure of the work combines a framework for diagnostics and deeper understanding as well from a multi-disciplinary approach that combines lessons learned, case studies, proven solutions from over three decades of consulting expertise from organizations like KPMG and PwC. I could not put the book down and shared stories with my wife Jenny as she operates in the clothing resale business via a sustainable green community service based business model called Consign Mine VA. "Dear you REALLY need to read this book !" Her work with special needs students from Loudoun County School District and truly a multi-generational team provide a great value proposition for those that need to make ends meet but still wish to be fashionable. So despite a self-described lack of tech savvy, she turned to Primer. Taking lessons while waiting to pick up our kids from after-school activities, Jenny learned the business skills she needed to boost awareness of her brand. She created an online marketplace, developing Consign Mine into a collective of over 1,000 consignors and 3,000 customers. And while she may sell fashion and home decor from an older generation, Jenny credits Primer with helping her business continue to stay on the cutting edge. Given it's crunch time and RFP season reading a book can seem a luxury especially when your going a hundred miles an hour to make those end of year deadlines.
Taking both an introspective as well as holistic approach that any C-Level executive can relate to and benefit from, Bradley Dawson's ability to combine complex challenges others have faced with keen perspectives and zen-like insights makes perfect sense from the lens of the small business owner in this ever increasing complex and uncertain marketplace. Given his background in organizational learning and executive development this is a must read for any small or medium size business owner that wishes to challenge their foundational beliefs in order to leverage a kaizen approach to business success. Well done sir ! Well done indeed. We need more of this thinking across sectors and disciplines only then can we break new ground and ride the next wave.
