Riding a Dead Horse

The beast was near to dying when the shot rang out
It was you who pulled the trigger at the end
If you're an example of love then I should've gone without
And we can't fool ourselves that we were ever friends.
I must have rode that horse over two million miles
In my journey of discovery here on Earth
And I have warded off demons in too many trials
To believe our emotions were not of any worth.
But to have it shot out from under me was a surprise
Though I am sure the beast was already diseased
I still say lies of omission are still fucking lies
The truth can't be molded and shaped as you please
You helped me discover that people have no honour
And you're not alone in supporting so many lies
Your wild sexuality created two different "boners"
Yet I will not abide the oldest of all alibis.
Let's just say it's enough for me to call it a day
I now weary from displaying any kind of love
Destroying so much of my soul I no longer wish to play
When I faced the truth, the pain was more than enough.
I'm not giving up, it's more like I forgot how to care
As I have enough love to still to say my goodbyes
But the reality of false love is too much to bare
I will shoot the beast myself if it begins to rise
Thank you once again for the betrayal of my trust
And the way you so casually played with my heart
I loved you so dearly I cast others into the dust
When it was you I should have asked to depart.
