Ridiculously Recruiting - Five Strange things I did as a Recruiter.

Ridiculously Recruiting - Five Strange things I did as a Recruiter.

Sometimes we have to do the ridiculous to find success in our recruiting life. There are times we do things that no one understands, yet it works and it doesn't need to be understood by anyone.

So here is just some ridiculous recruiting type things I have done and thought... I should share, since we are all in it together and maybe others can relate.

  1. Calling candidates at weird & strategic hours to try to catch them based on the industry, breaks, lunches, hours, etc.
  2. Using websites to hunt down phone numbers for candidates that never answered and then pitching them on why your hiring manager wants to speak to them, even if it may not be 100% ...of course, I knew they were perfect and it would be a slam dunk, and it always worked, but still...risky.
  3. Tracking how many people I sent in to a hiring manager the week prior on a Monday (to see if it is up to par with my personal goals and if not), and then diving into manic recruiter mode getting in touch with as many candidates that align as possible and then get them scheduled on the calendar for the upcoming week.
  4. Forgetting about food all day and then eating dinner only to jump right back into sourcing mode on the computer for another 2-3 hours before bed and binge eating the whole time...then waking up like you want to throw up by the horrible eating habits you had the day before.
  5. Creating job postings and getting so many applications that you get sad having to reject just as many people that applied so you start going out of your way trying to help some of the people you built relationships with during the interview process beyond your actual job responsibilities, potentially getting a bit attached to the success of the candidate getting a job beyond the job your interviewing them for... no this has never happened to me... :/

And on that note, I leave you with this...Recruiters dance to the rhythm of hires and our dance is quite unique.

Really enjoyed your unique take on recruiting! ?? It reminds me of what Aristotle said about excellence not being an act but a habit. Keep innovating!

The last bullet! I still interact with candidates I've placed and interviewed years back Some of them even made introductions for me when I was laid off! I love seeing others success and growth!
