What do I need to know about my submission date?

Firstly, you need to make sure that you check the submission dates relevant to your route, pathway and geographic region VERY carefully.

You can do this on the RICS website, making sure that you select the right geographic region to ensure the dates stated are relevant to you.

To help kick start your professional journey this year, we have provided a brief summary of the Spring dates in this blog. We will look at the Autumn dates in a blog post later this year.

If you are in any doubt about your submission dates, please contact us using the chat box below or by emailing [email protected].

There is absolutely no leeway in these dates, as the option to click ‘submit’ in ARC will simply cease to be available and you will need to wait for the next submission window to open later in the year.

Please note that any dates stated are only valid as at 2 January 2020.

What are the key written submission dates for AssocRICS?

For UK-based candidates, there are three AssocRICS submission windows each year, the first being between 1-8 February 2020.

For candidates based in other geographic regions, the submission windows are different.

For example, in MENA there are again three submission windows, the first is earlier between 1-15 January 2020 and the second is then between 1-15 June 2020.

In North America, there are again three windows, with the first being between 4-8 February 2020 and the second between 29 April – 3 May 2020.

What are the key written submission dates for MRICS / RICS APC?

The below submission dates include all APC routes, including structured training, preliminary review and the Senior Professional Assessment (SPA).

However, you need to check whether your pathway falls within the Land & Property or Built Environment submission windows, as the dates for each differ.

Please also note that these dates relate only to UK-based candidates. We will look at other geographic regions further later in this blog.

Land & Property – 15-28 February 2020 (please note, although it is a leap year with 29 days in February 2020, RICS still state on their website that the submission window closes on 28 February 2020).

Built Environment – 15-31 March 2020.

There are different submission dates for preliminary review candidates, so make sure that you don’t confuse the two separate submission windows for your pathway.

If you are successful in your preliminary review submission, you will need to re-submit your final assessment submission in line with the dates above for non-preliminary review candidates.

Land & Property – 15-31 March 2020.

Built Environment – 15-30 April 2020.

As we discussed earlier, the written submission dates differ in other geographic regions.

For example, in MENA:

  • APC (all pathways, but not including SPA) – 1-15 March 2020.
  • SPA and Specialist Assessment – 1-15 January 2020 and then 1-15 June 2020.
  • Preliminary review – 1-15 March 2020.

In North America, the written submission date of 4-8 February 2020 is the same for all pathways and routes, including preliminary review.

You can check the submission dates for your region using the RICS website. If you are in any doubt, please contact us using the chat box below or by emailing [email protected].

What are the key written submission dates for FRICS?

You can submit at any time, with the time period for assessment taking up to two months.

What should I be doing during January 2020 to prepare for my RICS AssocRICS, APC or FRICS written submission?

If you are submitting your final assessment submission in January, February or March 2020, you should have a first draft well under way. This is particularly the case if your submission is due in the next 4-6 weeks.

A great way to ensure that your submission is ‘client ready’ for your assessment panel is to book your submission review from Property Elite.

We cover all RICS APC, AssocRICS and FRICS routes and pathways. Your submission review will be structured in two rounds; the first being our feedback on your draft submission, the second being our final proof read and further feedback following your amendments.

If you require any further rounds of feedback then we are happy to do so on the basis of our standard hourly rate, for example if you need additional support with your written English.

We use comment boxes, track changes and a summary covering email to provide you with full feedback on your entire submission. For the RICS APC, this includes your summary of experience, case study and CPD record.

We can also review your submission in light of any previous referral report you have received, to ensure that you are addressing any concerns raised.

Our turnaround time is 5 working days for each round of your review.

Please note, however, that your final assessment submission is your own responsibility and we always recommend that you proof read your final submission carefully. This is particularly the case if you make any further amendments following the second round review by Property Elite.

Good luck with your RICS AssocRICS, APC or FRICS assessments this Spring!

Can you propose me as a Associate member that would help. It's been the most difficult thing about trying to get Assoc RICS.
