Richmond HC - New Logo Launch.
Richmond Hockey Club
News views and updates from Richmond Hockey Club London. 9 Mens & 5 Ladies teams and a LOT of juniors
As we embark on our momentous 150th Anniversary season we thought it was time for a refresh of our logo to align better with our Members, location and aspirations. Whilst there has been a huge sentimental attachment to the old Griffin (or Gryphon!) our challenge with it was that it didn't include Richmond nor did it refer to Hockey - two challenges that make it quite tricky when we want to promote ourselves !
With thanks to a host of Club Members for their input and ultimately to Charlie Gilks (M2) for his creative talents and to Royce Waters (Director of Hockey) for driving the process we are delighted to reveal our new logo !
We challenged Charlie to really get creative and he's certainly come up trumps. His comments on the process and the thoughts behind the new logo are below :-

Richmond Hockey Club’s new logo celebrates 150 years since the club’s founding. The new logo needed to convey the rich history of the Club through a future-proofed lens, whilst aiming to retain elements from the original design. The new logomark sees the return of the Griffin, redesigned into a more eye catching visual, surrounded by a traditional circular sports club border and a bolder font to accompany. Much thought has gone into the illustration, with the notable inclusion of the River Thames contours around Richmond into the beak of the bird, and the border is broken up by three bars to signify the Club’s three national league titles to date.
The new logo has various iterations which will be used across all platforms and be incorporated into Clubwear and kit going forward.
