The richest Kentuckian is a name you might not expect.

Lexington resident Tamara Hughes Gustavson was the lone Kentuckian named to the Forbes 400, a list of the wealthiest people in America.

The largest shareholder of self-storage giant Public Storage, Forbes lists Gustavson’s net worth as $9.1 billion, which was good for No. 118 on the list. Her net worth grew nearly $2 billion from last year, which Forbes listed as $7.5 billion. ??

She also owns a famous Lexington thoroughbred farm which has bred Kentucky Derby winning and hall of fame racehorses. | Read more about that here.

Brewery owners purchase iconic restaurant

An old-school diner in Old Louisville has a new owner.

Domino Partners LLC purchased D. Nalley’s restaurant, located at 970 S. Third St. near Ollie’s Trolley, from Darrell Nalley’s Inc. for $110,000 last week, according to Jefferson County Property Valuation Administrator’s Records.

Domino Partners is the same company that redeveloped the 27,000-square-foot former Kroger store at 922 S. Second Street into The922 development, which includes the brewery and restaurant Noble Funk. | Read more about the Old Louisville fixture and the plans for its future here.

PGA Tour Superstore to open in Louisville

A major golf experience is once again coming to Louisville.

PGA Tour Superstore is opening its first area retail location at 996 Breckenridge Lane, according to a electrical commercial permit filed with Louisville Metro Planning and Design.?The golf equipment and apparel store will be located inside the former Bed Bath & Beyond space in Breckenridge Plaza, near Big Springs Country Club. | Find out when the store will open and how many people it plans to employ here.

Construction lead picked for $27M LMPD HQ

The new Louisville Metro Police Department headquarters is one step closer to opening its doors.

Calhoun Construction Services Inc. has been selected as the construction manager for the $27 million project, that will renovate the former AT&T building at 601 W. Chestnut St., according to a permit filed with Louisville Metro Planning and Design.

Bought for $6.8M in 2021, the new headquarters will replace LMPD’s current temporary facility and put LMPD under one roof for the first time in a generation. | See how Calhoun plans to bid out individual pieces of the project in our story here.

East End pizzeria closes

A Cincinnati-based pizza chain abruptly shuttered its lone Louisville location this week after less than two years in business.

LaRosa’s Pizzeria in Springhurst is permanently closed, according to the chain’s website.

The franchised pizzeria, owned by Florence, Kentucky-based HSH Holland, Inc., opened in its East Louisville location in January of 2023. HSH is a subsidiary of One Holland, which operates Skyline, Dunkin’ and First Watch franchises across the state.

Well-known Louisville company expands

Vendome Copper & Brass Works, Inc., a manufacturer of custom process equipment, has opened a new manufacturing facility designed to significantly enhance its tank fabrication capacity. Vendome is behind many of the stills used in the bourbon industry, both in and outside of Kentucky.

The new facility is located on Ormsby Ave., three miles from Vendome's main location on Franklin Street. The newly established 50,000-square-foot facility is tailored for the production of large-scale stainless steel vessels, including fermenters, cookers, beer wells, storage tanks, reactors and ASME code stamped pressure vessels.
