Richard Haworth's Summer 2022 Top Bedroom Trends

Summer 2022 is fast approaching and with it the height of the staycation season.

As guests across the country begin to plan their annual breaks and scour the internet for stand out B&Bs, Hotels and Spas for a memorable getaway, it’s time to consider a seasonal bedroom revamp to create a stunning bedroom set up, that instantly secures bookings and makes for an Instagrammable setting.

1. The Platinum Jubilee

There’s really no escaping the influence that the Queen’s Jubilee is having on all things interiors this year. And the bedroom is no exception! Nothing screams beautifully British like a quality print with summer bunting, the Queen’s head or a royal crown. Start with the classic backdrop of silky white linens, such as our popular 100% cotton Como Sateen Duvet covers, and then elevate with regal-inspired styling accents. Choose bold print cushions, such as these from Jan Constantine, and accessorise with traditional red and blue tones. If you want a more modern monarchical touch, Pantone’s 2022 Colour of the Year, Very Peri is really on trend, and isn’t too far from the official Platinum Jubilee Purple tone.

2. Biophillic Design

Plants and bringing the outdoors in, remains a firm trend for hoteliers around the world. The presence of nature, whether it’s succulents or hanging ivy, is scientifically proven to improve mood, and earthy green tones are comforting and calming. Consider a foliage-inspired feature wall, such as this Duck Green shade from Farrow and Ball, or add a selection of small plants of varying shapes and heights throughout the bedroom and bathroom to make your white linens really pop.

3. Japandi

Japandi is a one of THE trends of the year - not just in the bedroom, but in interior design in general. The fusion of Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian hygge is definitely a hit with guests who are seeking an escape and really want a hotel bedroom they can completely relax in. The trend is easy to incorporate with natural tones and textures - add accessories with smooth curves and layer wood, metals and marbles. Set off with clean, cosy white bed linens, this trend is soothing and is guaranteed to rejuvenate guests who are overstimulated from their busy day-to-day lives. Because Japandi is focused on comfort, we recommend revamping your bedroom basics, starting back with new pillows and duvets to guarantee quality sleep and coziness. Our premium non allergenic Clusterfill Pillows are available with a finer denier filling to give a wonderfully soft pillow, while still maintaining their shape and loft. By the morning, yur guests will be left feeling totally Zen.

4. Feature headboards

Feature headboards are an easy way to create a focal point in a guest room, without having to make changes throughout the entire room. You could try adding a headboard which is a bold, bright pop of colour or more daring hoteliers may opt for an eye-catching, unusual shape to frame the bed, such as this 80s-inspired design. A headboard can create interest both at the booking stage and during the stay, and can really elevate the initial guest experience when they first enter the bedroom. With the right headboard, your guests will be busy taking selfies and tagging themselves in your rooms online - winner!

5. Duvet Daze

With the temperatures warming up (although we won’t necessarily hold our breaths since this is England after all!) and many of us without the luxury of bedroom AC, it’s always a sensible idea to switch to a summer duvet. Our Summer Hollowfibre Soft to Touch Duvets are only 4.5 tog, so guests will be comfortable yet still sleep soundly. Extra blankets and sheets can always be layered on for those who want them but the thinner duvet is a clever way of revamping, without redecorating when the mercury rises - because there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortably hot at night, when you’re pining for a decent night’s sleep.

With classic white bed sheets as the staple of any hotel room, the final styling opportunities really are endless.
